2020 has unpacked the unexpected, including a much more candid Da Brat. For the first time, the rapper and television/radio personality has publicly revealed some juicy details about her romantic relationship with NBA legend Allen Iverson.
Da Brat recently went one-on-one with Kandi Burruss from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta," and Da Brat really opened up Kandi’s YouTube show, “Speak On It.” The two artists are friends, and since Da Brat is comfortable talking to Kandi, Da Brat shed light on her decision to come out this year as bisexual. Viewers also heard about the scary times Da Brat endured in prison, and learned about her longtime romance with the iconic A.I.
Da Brat, who was raised by her grandmother, says she was raised for the blissfully and long-term romance with Iverson.
“I used to wake up and pick his clothes out and cook breakfast,” said Da Brat. “I just made sure he was happy. And he spoiled me and made sure I was happy.”
The “Funkdafied” rapper and co-host on “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” and “Dish Nation” said she loved cooking, cleaning and doing domestic work at home with the now-retired NBA great.
About her relationship with Allen Iverson, Da Brat shared, “I was like, ‘This is amazing. This is it. Then I think basketball players? H—s. He had a baby mama, some kids. He had a lot of stuff going on. So it lasted for a good while.”
Da Brat eventually came down from the veritable “honeymoon” phase of their relationship and could no longer dismiss the long trail of groupies.
“It was good for a minute,” remembered Da Brat. “Good for a long time. It just didn’t work out. Too many b—-es.”
