All Broward County sHERO and Ft. Lauderdale Police Officer Krystle Smith wanted to do was express appreciation to the community. Days after she was celebrated worldwide for publicly getting a fellow officer 'ALL THE WAY TOGETHER' moments after he purposely shoved a kneeling black female during a George Floyd protest.
Officer Smith took to Instagram to show her respects and say thank you for the outpouring of support.
The suspended officer, Steven Pohorence, took a screenshot of her post and reported it to the FLPDepartment’s Office of Internal Affairs. Pohorence texted a lieutenant on duty, complaining that Officer Smith’s post violated police social media guidelines and could “further divide the department.”
Now we really have to protect Sis at all costs, because on Thursday, the Office of Internal affairs ruled in favor of Officer Smith. Word on the street is they emailed Poherence back saying “the described matter is not a violation of department policy.”
Pohorence has nothing, but time to think of his actions since being relieved of duty pending a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation of the events of the May 31. Unfortunately, officers relieved of duty in the Fort Lauderdale Police Department still collect a paycheck, according to their policies.
