Shortly after this weekend’s Erykah Badu vs. Jill Scott sensual Instagram Live event that set the vibe Saturday night, VERZUZ has announced their next duo. The next round goes to Nelly vs. Ludacris.
The match was discussed and confirmed during an IG Live with VERZUZ co-owners and super producers, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.
An animated Swizz Beats asked “Can we get that, Ludacris versus Nelly, can we get that next Saturday, Timbaland?” And as smooth as he could be, Timbaland said “Yes, we can get that. We got that.”
VERZUZ, which brings together two artists with phenomenal and comparable track records of producing numerous hits throughout their careers.
Ludacris made his musical debut in 1999 with "Incognegro", where he released two well-known singles, “What’s Your Fantasy” and “Ho” that were later included on his sophomore album, "Back For The First Time."
Ludacris has a total of nine albums, including five Billboard 100 chart-topping singles and four Billboard 200 No. 1 albums.
In 1999, Ludacris co-founded Disturbing The Peace and helped initiate the careers of artists like Field Mob, Bobby Valentino, Chingy and Playaz Circle, a rap duo that included Tity Boi, a.k.a 2 Chainz.
Nelly’s 2000 debut album "Country Grammar" has sold over 10 million copies.
With one bandaid under his eye and seven albums, Nelly also has four Billboard 100 chart-topping singles and three Billboard 200 No. 1 albums. And he is notably known as one of the best-selling rappers in American music history.
Both rappers have also risen to the occasion and influenced the culture, from acting and entrepreneurship to humanitarianism.
No date has officially beem set for the battle, but based on their catalogs and swag they both display, it’ll be another VERZUZ we’ll all be here for.
